ALCHEMY OF DUNGEON COVETOUS

Being a listing of those Strange Items and Reagents found within Dungeon Covetous and their Usage.Alchemical Formulae
These mysterious tracts are stored in a locked bookcase in the library in Covetous. They may be obtained by the use of a blue key. Regrettably the archiving system is obscure, and there is no guarantee of what an outsider might retrieve from the case. The Formulae may be used by a skilled alchemist to convert metals into other forms.
Alchemical Tracts
These mysterious tracts are stored in a locked bookcase in the library in Covetous, along with the alchemical formulae described above. They may be obtained by the use of a blue key. The information contained therein is thus far indecipherable, and the texts best kept as a curiosity.
Philosopher's Stone
Obtained from the golden chest in the Experimental Containment chamber in Covetous, this stone is a legendary item among alchemists and mages. There are many legends about its properties, including the creation of a means of immortality. However the only currently confirmed legend is the ability to convert base metals into pure gold. Up to a hundred ingots of base metal may be converted by simple contact with the Stone, which is consumed in the process.
Quicksilver Vial
The vials containing this unusual fluid may be obtained by using a golden key obtained from the magi of Covetous upon the quicksilver refinery in the lowest levels of the dungeon. Unfortunately the claw of the constructed entity known as the Governor must also be utilized to activate the device. Quicksilver vials contain a fluid which serves to both repair and strengthen any item to which it is applied. However there are hints recorded that this process is not without risk of an as yet uncertain nature.
Elixir of Youth
Like the Philosopher's Stone, these potions are kept in the Experimental Containment chest, which may be accessed using a golden key. The bottles are labeled Elixir of Youth. It is as yet undetermined whether they truly have an effect on the age of the drinker, but it is known that they impart and replenish health, vitality, and magical energy in the imbiber. The means of production of these potions is as yet unknown, though legends suggest that the Philosopher's stone is involved in some fashion.
Spinner Bomb
Another experimental potion from the Containment Chest, the Spinner Bomb is a useful device for restraining a foe. The bottle is hurled at a target, which it ideally breaks upon. The target and the area around it are covered in greenish sticky threads, similar to those created by a giant spider, albeit on a larger scale. Most human sized opponents will be restrained for a while after being covered by this substance. It is thought that the spinner bombs manufacture involves the use of the thread of the bindspinner creatures that infest some areas of the dungeon Covetous.
Pure Gold
Pure Gold is created by the use of the Philosopher's Stone on ingots of base metals. As yet it has no determined use, being very soft and malleable. |
