I
think the discussion petered off in light of other topics at the time. It's
still being brainstormed, but we don't want to leave anyone in the dark (or
make for nasty surprise redux), so here I am hashing it up again. ;)
If it were do-able (and noone's saying it is, because I don't think it's been
explored/researched/tested sufficiently) how would you everyone feel about some
form of timer on and/or between resses?
I.E. it takes a few second to shake someone awake, and if said res'er ran off,
it would break the res? I don't think it's too unrealistic to assume slapping
someone awake takes a few seconds, after all. ;)
I think the real big gripe with band-aid ressing is that a lone healer can,
almost instantly, res an entire party, from halfway across screen. I can say
that I don't think anyone, staff-wise is ever going for a TPK (well, I'm not
sure about Cymro... but we like him anyway...), but having or not having a res-level
healer in the group singlehandedly throws a -huge- cusp on ye olde easy/challenging/impossible
curve if combat does happen to arise.
Again, we're still at the theoretical, but if timers can be worked into it,
I'm inclined to think it's a good thing. Require salts for any res - but perhaps
res-level healers don't consume theirs, while lower level (or no level) healers
do, or have a chance to)? (translation: anyone now has the ability to res, but
healers still have a very nice perk for being good at it - one of my big concerns
was making sure "Joe Newb" and his merry band of brothers has the ability to
slap themselves awake if the need ever arises.
Anyhow - thoughts? ideas? comments?

PS, and completely unrelated - it's been awesome to see so many people in game
this week. :D
