Of Repairs and Miscellaneous Items

In order to repair items, or to smith an ingot at all, ye need a basic skill of 1.0.

Of Metals to be Forged

Armour and weapons can be composed of many substances, some more useful than others. The table below lists the abbreviations used to denote the various metals in the list of armour and required skills.

Of Rusty, and Copper Metals:
These metals are scant protection against damage, being soft and mallible compared to the other metals. Thus armour made from these in fact needs to be made from iron, with a coating of the other metal.
Because of this, while the total number of Ingots required for armour or weapons of these metals only remains the same, half of the ingots need to be iron, while the other half only need to be of the softer metal.
Example: iron plate leggings require 20 iron ingots. Copper plate leggings require 10 copper and 10 iron ingots.

Of Silver, & Gold:
These metals are much softer than even copper. Thus they are used to coat the surface of a piece of armour or a weapon made from iron.
This means that for every ingot of gold or silver needed to make armour or weapons, 9 iron ingots will also be needed.
Example: iron plate leggings require 20 iron ingots. Silver plate leggings require 2 silver and 18 iron ingots.

Of Bronze:
This metal is an alloy, not a metal found in nature. A smith must create the ingots from a mixture of Copper and Tin, in a ratio of 9:1. Smiths make Bronze in standard batches of 10 or 100 ingots, and require 50 skill to make the alloy.
