HISTORY POSTING GUIDE

Legacy Forum posting Etiquette for fictional IC stories

by Avatus

First of all, please note that all the rules in the Character Creation F.A.Q. apply here.

We strongly suggest people follow these guidelines to avoid stepping on another player's toes, or a GM's work. If you don't follow them, problems could occur. Problems we really don't want to waste time having to attend to.

Know that your stories on the Legacy forum are an extension of your in game character, so keep that in mind when you write. [If you write a story about how you slew 500 soldiers single-handedly liberating Castle Britannia, you can imagine the GM's won't be pleased ]

1) When posting a story about Legacy, mark it as [IC] in the subject line. [In character]

2) Before the story write an out of character disclaimer as to the intentions and purpose of this story. i.e. "This is a fictionalized story of a quest that happened in the server.", "This is an in character story of what happened after a quest in the server." , "This is just my character thinking." You get the picture.

3) Set your own rules in the disclaimer. "If you wish to add a response to this story, contact me first.", "Do not copy my subject lines." Also state what parts of the story can be known by others in character.

4) Never use another player's character in your story unless they have given you permission, or alternatively you've discussed it with them in IRC or ICQ.

5) Don't use major characters in game in your story first without GM approval. I.e. Lord British, Shamino, Iolo, etc.

6) Do not rewrite established lore and fiction in Legacy. I.e. your story cannot have female Gargoyles. [Check the Character Creation F.A.Q. for further details.]
