INTERNET RELAY CHAT (IRC)

There is an IRC channel 'associated' with Legacy, hosted on the Stratics server.

Stratics:

At present, many people are reporting difficulties in connecting to the Stratics IRC servers. The official stable servers are listed in the table below.

Note that the IRC default port, 6667, is not an option for any of these servers. The ports listed below are those which are open for use.

To connect, set up a new server value from the list below, and set the port from the default to 6668 or 7000, and try connecting to that. The Legacy players all swear by it.

Server name Server Location Available Ports
stratics.frws.com USA - Colorado 6668, 7000
irc.glowfish.de EU - Germany 6668, 7000
stratics.afraidyet.net USA - Texas 6668, 7000
irc.epaxsys.net USA - Colorado 6668, 7000

The #legacy Channel
Host: irc.stratics.com
Channel: #legacy

The Rules According to Daedalus:

#Legacy has free speech, but we also expect courtesy from our patrons. No homophobic, sexist, or racist insults. Excessive swearing or vulgarity will be responded to at our discretion.
2. If you feel offended or insulted unduly, let a server op know and we'll address it.
3. No libel or character assassination, please.
4. No flooding, no posting offensive ("not-safe-for-work") links without warning, no patently offensive or obnoxious use of scripts or colors.
5. Channel ops will handle any and all issues on a case-by-case basis.
6. #Legacy is not run by as an official extension of the Ultima Legacy server. You won't get in trouble serverside for criticizing the staff or policies of UL in IRC, nor will you ever face consequences in #Legacy for something you've done serverside.
7. However, speech in #Legacy is considered open and public. If you admit or brag about a violation of the rules in IRC without the intent of bringing it to the attention of the staff, then they're perfectly welcome to use that statement to investigate. However, that statement shouldn't be used as a sole piece of evidence for punishment.

... There should be a #8 to round us off Ultima-like, but anyway...
