Rules
Pertaining to the Britannian Archeology Society and the Study of
Archeology.
A number
of antique items have been added to the map. Ruins, catacombs, dungeons
and other remote locations are where those artifacts can be found.
Artifacts items will be labeled <ancient>. The Britannian
Archeology Society will take interest on those items. Take them
to Chief Archeologist Smitters in their main dig site (Isle of the
Avatar) for account.
By depositing the item in the locked container there and following
closely the rules below, the following will happen:
1) You will be rewarded in gold and earn a credit for your findings.
Rewards vary according to how difficult it is to locate and retrieve
each particular artifact.
2) Dedicated treasure hunters will earn a medal from the society
after retrieving five <ancient> items. After reaching the
mark of ten credits and meet the requirements for an archeologist,
they'll have the option to be employed by the Society.
Society archeologists will be able to purchase treasure maps.
How often that will be allowed to happen and the map's cost will
remain at the discretion of the staff. Archeologists will also be
given a chance to team up with other players and explore undisclosed
digging sites and can earn prestige by uncovering relics from old
Britannia. They can also bear the title "Britannian Archeology Society".
Affiliation to other guilds is allowed and the Society will not
require exclusivity.
Requirements for archeology: Mining 70, Cartography 70, fedora hat.
HOW TO PROCEED:
1) To deliver an <ancient> treasure: Drop it in a bag,
along with a book containing your character's name and the description
of the item you found. You may only include one name and one item
per bag. If you find more than one artifact, use a different bag
and book. Insert the bag in the locked container, found in the main
camp at the Isle of the Avatar.
2) How to locate an <ancient> treasure: They carry the <ancient>
tag on their names. They are usually urns, vases, plates, idols,
goblets, masks, pottery, etc. However, other different types can
be found. They are usually rusty and stained, being brown, beige
or copper in colour.
EDIT: <Ancient> items are now placed directly on the map.
What you see is what you get, different from the previous container
setup. However, some <ancient> items may be found inside normal
containers (like chests and crates), as monster loot and in the
future, inside treasure chests. So keep an eye on those containers
that have always been empty, they may be storing something precious.
RULES: (Valid to all players)
1) - These special items will carry the tag <ancient> before
or between their names. If you unintentionally come across those
items and if you have no desire to participate on the treasure hunt,
please leave them where they are so that other players can retrieve
them later.
2) - Do not keep <ancient> items in your bank coffer or in
your house. Do not keep them in your inventory, unless you're intending
to trade them later (read below). If you're unable to return the
<ancient> item to where you found it, either deliver it in
the camp or destroy it in a trash barrel. Those items will constantly
be tracked and deleted if found in inappropriate places. Continued
hoarding of those items will issue you a warning. -They are not
designed to be uniques.- (ICly, they'll crumble to dust if they
are kept in your possession for too long, due to their delicate
nature).
3) - Rogue characters will be allowed to keep <ancient> items
and later bargain with black market dealers for higher profits.
Keep in mind that connection with such individuals will be considered
an illegal activity and will be responded with the possible threat
of being caught and the subsequent penalties involved. If a player
chooses to keep an <ancient> item for that purpose, they must
keep the item in their inventory and notify the staff of their plans.
-Do not keep them stored in the bank without previous notification-.
Please send myself or another staff member a PM if that situation
applies.
4) - The reward list will vary according to the rarity of the item
and the difficulty to obtain it. It will not be published.
5) - If you find an <ancient> item container, double click
it and find nothing to retrieve inside, chances are that someone
got there first. Those containers will be revisited often and removed
in case they're empty. Please don't page if that happens.
6) - The process of rewarding each player will be done manually
and will take time. Please don't page concerning rewards, unless
it's taken a really long time for you to receive them. At this time,
it should take any time from a week to a month for rewards to be
collected. If this limit expires, feel free to page or send me a
message.
7) - The storage we'll be using is locked, so you will not be able
to open it. This will not prevent you from inserting anything there.
However, we won't like it if players are caught trying to unlock
the chest or trying to dump anything other than <ancient>
artifacts and their labels there. Likewise, players using fake entries,
impersonating other people or trying to abuse of the system in any
way will be tracked down and punished accordingly.
8)
- Found artifacts will be moved to the Trinsic Museum. There, a
sign will be placed above the object containing its name and who
found it.
Optionally, whoever finds an <ancient> can write up the history
of the object. This is of course, done OOCly, unless your character
has some knowledge of history. I reserve the rights to edit, review
or deny the essay, in case it doesn't fit the object, before implementation.
Other than that, feel free to be creative and make up the history
behind the things you found. The essays should be PMed directly
to me.
Let's fill up that building with interesting things.
Any
questions that might appear, please reply to this thread or private
message me. This is an attempt to add a minor element to the game,
one I'm looking forward to expand depending on your feedback. So
feel free to add your own suggestions and constructive criticism.
Grab your whips and have fun.
